PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner for forming an electrostatic image, to further reduce the number of parts and to consolidate functions, thereby achieving high image quality while reducing size and cost. Provided is an image forming method and apparatus capable of obtaining a stable image. SOLUTION: In a toner having at least a binder resin and magnetic powder, the surface of the magnetic powder is coated with a coloring agent and contains 10 to 40% by weight of a black magnetic material.
