abstract (57) [Summary] [Purpose] The transfer sheet 7 is applied to the material to be dyed 6a by vacuum suction. By performing thermal transfer in a state where is adhered, a clear print pattern without color unevenness is imparted to the article 6a. A transfer sheet coated with a coloring composition containing a sublimable dye is superimposed on a material to be dyed and placed between a hot plate and a rubber sheet, and a gap between the hot plate and the rubber sheet is formed. The transfer sheet 7 is brought into close contact with the article 6a to be dyed by vacuum suction with the vacuum pump 5. Then, the sublimable dye is thermally transferred from the transfer sheet 7 to the material to be dyed 6a by the thermal energy applied from the hot plate 2. When a coated steel sheet is used as a material to be dyed, a transparent or translucent resin coating film having excellent dyeing properties is formed on the surface layer.
