abstract (57) [Problem] To improve the performance of a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell by using a composite catalyst in which a sufficient three-phase interface is formed to a deep part of an electrode and water does not stay. Kind Code: A1 In a solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell, catalyst particles are carbon carrying a catalyst metal, the catalyst particles are provided with a first resin and a second resin on the surface thereof, and the first resin is ion-exchanged. As the resin, a composite catalyst in which the second resin is porous, or a composite catalyst in which the second resin has no pores and at least a part of the catalyst particle surface is not covered with the second resin, is used.
