abstract (57) [Summary] [Problem] To provide a plant freshness preserving agent which suppresses the generation of ethylene in a plant itself and exhibits an excellent freshness preserving effect. Provided is a method for maintaining plant freshness using the same. SOLUTION: It is a plant freshness preserving agent containing benzoic acid and / or salts of benzoic acid (zinc salt, potassium salt, calcium salt, sodium salt, etc.) as an active ingredient. When used, benzoic acid and / or benzoic acid Is preferably adjusted to a concentration of 1 to 1000 mass ppm. The problem can be solved by applying the plant freshness preserving agent to the whole or a part of the target plant.
