titleOfInvention | Method for forming vertebrate pancreas in vitro system |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in vitro-derived pancreas useful for developmental engineering or organ engineering, which can obtain knowledge on pancreatic differentiation / formation mechanism, and a pancreas induced in vitro can actually function in vivo. In vitro-induced pancreas that can be evaluated for pancreatic transplantation and for the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic disease in higher animals that can be evaluated as to whether or not they are artificially induced at high rates from gastrulation outside the intended pancreatic area To provide a possible method. SOLUTION: In vitro, a pancreas is formed in vitro by treating a vertebrate, for example, the original upper lip of an early gastrulation embryo of Xenopus laevis with retinoic acid, followed by culturing. Examples of the treatment with retinoic acid include a treatment with retinoic acid having a concentration of 10 −5 M or more for 3 hours. |
