abstract | (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] It is not dependent on paper, and has excellent color development and color tone when printed on arbitrarily selected paper, and has excellent water resistance and light resistance. Provided is a coloring composition suitable for ink or the like that enables high recording density and high image quality. SOLUTION: The coloring composition contains an oil-soluble dye represented by the following general formula (1). In the formula (1), R 1 to R 4 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent, M represents —OY or —NR 5 R 6 , and Y represents a hydrogen atom or a neutralizing atom. R 5 and R 6 each independently represent an alkyl group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group, an acyl group, an alkanesulfonyl group or an arenesulfonyl group.
