titleOfInvention | Improved filler wire for aluminum alloys |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved welding filler wire for 2195 aluminum-lithium fusion welding. SOLUTION: The filler wire composition is an aluminum-copper-based alloy containing titanium and zirconium at a high concentration, containing 0.25% or more of zirconium or 0.25% or more of titanium. The addition of titanium and zirconium Reduces the susceptibility of aluminum alloy welds to cracking and provides good mechanical welding properties. The addition of silver further improves the weldability of the weld filler wire. Reduced weld crack susceptibility enhances repair weldability when smoothing is desired. |
