(57) [Abstract] [Object] The present invention is directed to a PVA-based water-soluble fiber which is less likely to foam when dissolved in water or the like and has improved mechanical performance as compared with a conventional polyvinyl alcohol-based water-soluble fiber. The present invention provides a polyvinyl alcohol-based water-soluble fiber containing a vinyl alcohol-based polymer having a 1,2-glycol bond amount of 1.8 mol% or more and having a dissolution temperature in water (T ° C) of less than 100 ° C. |
