titleOfInvention Suppression of oxidative degradation of pharmaceutical preparations
abstract (57) [Problem] To provide a method for suppressing oxidative degradation of a pharmaceutical preparation. SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method for suppressing oxidative degradation of a pharmaceutical preparation containing at least one oxidizable active drug component. The method comprises adding an oxidation inhibiting amount of an iron (II) ion source to the formulation, preferably in the form of a pharmaceutical excipient. The invention further provides at least one oxidizable active drug component and an antioxidant amount of iron (II) Also provided are pharmaceutical formulations that include an ion source, preferably in the form of a pharmaceutical excipient. The present invention also provides for the use of an iron (II) ion source as an antioxidant in a pharmaceutical formulation.
