(57) Abstract: A method and system for accurately positioning a semifinished golf ball in a cavity of a half mold. Precise centering allows the core and the cover of the golf ball to be concentric. The system has an insertion mechanism that allows the suction cup to move vertically along a vertical path. The suction cup holds the semifinished golf ball and inserts it into each cavity of the half mold. As the suction cup is lowered along the vertical path, the half mold is raised. The half mold and the suction cup abut at the insertion position, where the semifinished golf ball is released from the suction cup and set into a cavity containing the thermosetting material. |
