abstract An integrated gateway network architecture for a loop emulation service on an ATM-over-DSL service is provided. A network node performs a loop function for one or more narrowband incoming toll-free lines. Includes M-ATM gateway. The gateway is embedded in the same device that performs the routing of the network traffic. The routing can include switching and / or multiplexing, or both. It may consist of routing M cells and / or routing TDM traffic. In one embodiment, the gateway is embedded in an integrated DLC / DSLAM access node. An integrated DLC / DSLAM / gateway device can be managed using a single element management system.
