(57) [Summary] Laminate having high appearance in which conformation and reversal at the interface between coating layers are controlled when an aqueous intermediate coating film and a top coating film are sequentially coated on an undercoat film. An object of the present invention is to provide a method for forming a coating film. SOLUTION: On a substrate on which an electrodeposition coating film is formed, an intermediate coating film using an aqueous intermediate coating, a metallic base coating using an aqueous metallic base coating, and a clear coating using a clear coating are sequentially formed. In the method, the aqueous intermediate coating composition is obtained by emulsion polymerization of an amide group-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer and another ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and has an amide group-containing acrylic resin having a particle diameter of 0.01 to 1.0 μm.
