abstract (57) [Problem] To provide a retardation film in which a refractive index in a film thickness direction is controlled by a portion of the film. SOLUTION: A plurality of liquid crystal molecules are formed from an optically anisotropic liquid crystal layer, the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer are aligned in a nematic hybrid alignment, the alignment state is fixed, and the liquid crystal molecules have different inclination directions with respect to the surface of the liquid crystal layer.
