abstract (57) [Summary] [Problem] To use carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, ethylene, and other environmentally hazardous substances contained in air at room temperature (meaning a temperature below normal room temperature that does not require special heating and cooling). It is an object to propose a catalyst that decomposes and purifies environmentally harmful substances such as odorous substances. Kind Code: A1 A room temperature purification catalyst in which a noble metal is supported on an oxide in which oxygen deficiency has been introduced by a reduction treatment. The oxide contains cerium oxide and zirconium oxide, and at least a part of the cerium oxide is present in an oxygen deficient state by the reduction treatment. This catalyst can be purified by contacting carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, ethylene, odorous substances and harmful environmental load substances contained in the air at room temperature.
