PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel episulfide compound and to be suitable for coating, encapsulation, and insulation of an optical component or an electronic component having a high refractive index and a high glass transition temperature, a small water absorption and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. A thermosetting composition for providing a cured product is provided. Further, the thermosetting composition using the acid anhydride curing agent can be simultaneously cured with the glycidyl compound. The present invention relates to an aromatic episulfide represented by the formula (1), a thermosetting composition containing the same, and a cured product thereof, wherein the thermosetting composition includes the aromatic episulfide, a curing catalyst, and an initiator. And an essential component comprising the aromatic episulfide, the glycidyl compound, the acid anhydride curing agent and the curing catalyst.
