titleOfInvention Barrel for plastic extruder
abstract (57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To improve the sliding characteristics of a barrel for a plastic extruder and extend the life of a screw of a counterpart. SOLUTION: The barrel for a plastic extruder of the present invention is made of high silicon stainless steel. Its composition is C: 0.1 wt% or less, Si: 2 to 6 wt%, Mn: 3 wt% or less, Ni: 4 to 9 wt%, Cr: 8 to 18 wt %, Mo: 2 wt% or less, Cu: 0.2-4 wt% Hereinafter, Nb + Al: 0.1 to 2 wt% or less. The barrel is manufactured, for example, by the following steps. (A) The solution-treated high silicon stainless steel is machined into a predetermined rough shape by machining. (B) Increase the hardness by performing a precipitation hardening treatment. (C) Grinding the surface to correct deformation due to heat treatment. (D) Gas nitriding is performed in an NH 3 atmosphere to precipitate nitride on the surface layer. (E) The inner peripheral surface is finished to a predetermined size by grinding to complete the barrel.
