(57) Abstract: There is provided a DNA derived from a bacterium having an ability to produce docosahexaenoic acid, which encodes a group of proteins similar to the group of icosapentaenoic acid biosynthetic enzymes. Examples of the bacteria include those belonging to the genus Moritella, and examples of the base sequence of the DNA include those represented by SEQ ID NO: 1. In general, the productivity of a useful substance in a wild strain producing a useful substance (eg, DHA) is often low, but the gene of the present invention is used to improve the productivity of DHA in a microorganism. Thereby, those microorganisms can be used industrially. |
