abstract [PROBLEMS] To provide an electrode active material suitable for use in obtaining a positive electrode having a high capacity and a high utilization factor, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: An electrode active material is used in which at least a part of the surface of particles mainly composed of nickel hydroxide is coated with a conductive layer having a lower oxygen content than the particles.
