abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for hydrophilization treatment capable of forming a coating film having excellent hydrophilicity and corrosion resistance, and a method for hydrophilization of a heat exchanger fin material using the composition. SOLUTION: The composition for hydrophilization treatment comprises (A) a hydrotalcite-based solid solution represented by the following formula (1) and (B) a hydrophilic film-forming binder. [(Mg 2+) y (M 2 2+) (1-y)] (1-X) (M 1 3+) X (OH) 2 A n- (X / n) · m H 2 0 ...... (1) In the above formula (1), M 2 2+ is at least one of divalent metals selected from the group consisting of Zn, Cd, Ca and Sr. Species, the M 1 3+ trivalent metal, A n-represents an n-valent anion, x, y and m 0 each <x ≦ 0.5, 0 <y < 1, a positive number that satisfies the condition of 0 ≦ m <2.
