abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide N- [N- [3- (2-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl) which is expected as a high-intensity sweetener having excellent stability. The present invention provides a method for industrially and advantageously producing propyl] -L-α-aspartyl] -L-phenylalanine 1-methyl ester, particularly an excellent intermediate and an efficient method for producing the same. SOLUTION: 2-alkoxy-7-methoxychroman was found to be excellent as an intermediate for producing the aspartyl dipeptide ester derivative, and after reacting resorcinol with acrolein dialkyl acetal, By methylating the 7-position hydroxyl group of the obtained compound, the dialkoxychroman derivative can be produced simply and in high yield. A novel dialkoxychroman derivative which is excellent as a production intermediate can also be provided. |
