[Constitution] A method for producing an attenuated virus by introducing a site-specific mutation into a gene of a virus that causes a viral disease in a plant and selecting an attenuated mutant, The mutation is introduced into the viral gene by introducing a plasmid capable of synthesizing an infectious virus genome into a host having a defect in the DNA repair system and culturing the host. This method is applied to apple stem grooving virus and citrus tarifleaf virus of the genus Capirovirus to produce attenuated mutants attenuated by silent mutation generated in viral genes. |
