titleOfInvention Inductive electrodeless lamp providing torus motion
abstract (57) Abstract: An apparatus and a method for increasing the temperature of a cold region in an inductively coupled electrodeless lamp are provided. An inductively coupled electrodeless lamp has a pair of excitation coils located inside an envelope or bulb. The pair of excitation coils are positioned and driven in a manner to generate at least one moving ring-shaped electric field within the envelope. The moving ring electric field forms a corresponding moving ring of the plasma discharge within the envelope. The movement of the electric field creates a more uniform hot volume within the envelope, thereby facilitating the photon emission or re-emission.
