abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvinyl ester copolymer having at least one protected ethylenic double bond and a polyvinyl having an ethylenic double bond in a side chain having excellent reactivity. Provided are an alcohol-based copolymer and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The structural unit represented by the formula (I) is 99.9. A polyvinyl ester copolymer containing 99 to 30 mol%, containing 0.001 to 70 mol% of the structural unit represented by the formula (II), and having a number average degree of polymerization of 10 to 30,000. (In the formula, R 1 represents a lower alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms.) (In the formula, V is -R 5 -CON (R a )-, -R 5 -N (R a ) CO-, -R 5 -OCON (R a )-, -R 5 -N (R a ) CO-, -R 5 -COO-, etc.
