abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier for a catalyst for producing ethylene oxide, which makes it possible to prepare a catalyst for producing ethylene oxide having excellent catalytic performance, and an oxidation having excellent catalytic performance obtained using this carrier. Provided are a catalyst for producing ethylene, and a method for producing ethylene oxide using the catalyst. SOLUTION: The alkali metal content is 1 to 70 mmol / k. A carrier obtained by adding an aluminum compound, a silicon compound and an alkali metal compound to α-alumina of g (α-alumina) and calcining, wherein the aluminum content in the carrier is 0 to 3 mol / kg-carrier in terms of Al. The content of the silicon compound is 0.01 to 2 mol / kg in terms of Si—the carrier and the content of the alkali metal compound is 0.0 in terms of the alkali metal. A carrier that is 1-2 mol / kg-carrier is used as a carrier of a catalyst for producing ethylene oxide.
