abstract (57) Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel pump having excellent abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance in a fuel in which a sliding mechanism component in a fuel chamber has poor lubricity or a fuel mixed with an oxidizing component. And an in-cylinder injection engine using the same. In a fuel pump for pressurizing and supplying fuel to a fuel injection valve of an automobile engine, a nitriding layer, a carburizing and quenching layer, and a carburizing layer are provided on at least one sliding surface which comes into contact with each other and slides through the fuel. It has a hardened layer composed of one of the nitrided layers and a metal compound layer having higher corrosion resistance to the fuel than the hardened layer formed on the surface of the hardened layer.
