PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a large amount of a ruthenium metathesis catalyst used as a catalyst for a carbon-carbon bond formation reaction using a metathesis reaction safely, simply, and easily. A ruthenium metathesis catalyst comprising a compound represented by the following formula (1) and a compound represented by the following formula (2) or (3). Equation (1) [RuX 1 2 ( arene) (PR 1 R 2 R 3)] 2 Formula (2) R 4 CHX 2 Formula (3) R 5 Ace (where X 1 and X 2 represent a halogen atom, arene represents a hydrocarbon having a benzene ring, R 1 to R 3 represent an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group and a substitutable aryl group, and R 4 has an ether bond or an ester bond. R 5 represents a substitutable alkyl group such as an alkyl group which may be substituted, and Ace represents an ethynyl group) or a metathesis catalyst comprising the formulas (4), (5) and (3).
