(57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To detect a synchronization signal based on fluctuation of incoherent light and irradiate a sample with electromagnetic waves generated by incoherent light which is light including random intensity modulation on a short time scale. And a terahertz-band complex permittivity measuring apparatus for detecting characteristics of the sample. A laser beam, which is incoherent light, is split by a beam splitter, and one of the laser beams is irradiated on a photoconductive element for radiating an electromagnetic wave to emit an electromagnetic wave. This is made parallel by the parabolic mirror 9 and the sample 12 is transmitted or reflected. The electromagnetic wave to be detected is collected on the electromagnetic wave detecting photoconductive element 7 by the parabolic mirror 14, and the other divided laser beam 4 is irradiated with a time delay. Electromagnetic wave to be detected and laser light 4 as incoherent light Is detected as a current. |
