titleOfInvention Liquid crystal temperature range expansion method
abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for expanding a nematic temperature range of a liquid crystal composition while satisfying various characteristics required for a liquid crystal optical element, and to improve the above-mentioned drawbacks produced by this method. Provided are a composition and a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: In a nematic liquid crystal composition (B) for a display device containing a liquid crystal compound (A) having a trans-1,4-cyclohexylene group or a 1,4-phenylene group, A trans-1,4-cyclohexylene group or a 1,4-phenylene group contained in the liquid crystal compound (A) may be a compound of the formula (I) in which all or a part of the liquid crystal compound (A) is included. (Wherein U 1 , U 2 , and U 3 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a fluorine atom, or a chlorine atom), whereby the liquid crystal composition (B ) A method for extending the liquid crystal temperature range, wherein the liquid crystal temperature range is expanded.
