titleOfInvention Electro-optic element
abstract [PROBLEMS] To use a liquid crystal composition which satisfies various characteristics required for a liquid crystal optical element, has a wide nematic temperature range, a low viscosity, and can maintain a high retention at a high temperature. It is intended to provide an STN-LCD and an AM-LCD, or to provide a liquid crystal display device in which the above-mentioned disadvantages have been conventionally improved. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display device having a structure in which a liquid crystal is sandwiched between a pair of substrates and provided with at least an alignment control layer, a transparent electrode and a polarizing plate, the liquid crystal may be decahydro which may be substituted by halogen. Naphthalene-2,6 -An electro-optical element using a liquid crystal composition containing a compound having a diyl group.
