titleOfInvention | Portable heat source |
abstract | SUMMARY The present invention is a portable heat source that can be used to warm food, beverages or other foodstuffs. The heater material (4) is a solid that can be stored for a long time and activated by the addition of water or an aqueous solution (22). The heater is such that the addition of water to both the acid and base anhydrides produces heat and each of the acid and base; the subsequent reaction of the acid with the base is further heated and is safe to dispose of easily. Consist of an acid anhydride or salt with a basic anhydride or salt to produce a neutral product. The invention further comprises means for adjusting the rate of heat generation by the use of additives and processing methods such that heat is generated at a rate compatible with the rate at which food or other substances can absorb heat. |
