(57) Abstract: The present invention provides a compound of the formula (I), or an optical isomer, diastereomer or enantiomer thereof, or a compound thereof according to the claims, which is useful as an inhibitor of metalloproteases. Provided is a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, or a biohydrolyzable amide, ester, or imide thereof. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions and methods for treating diseases, disorders and conditions characteristic of metalloprotease activity using the compounds or pharmaceutical compositions containing the same. |
