(57) Abstract: An electronic instrument having a selectable group of playable sounds, individually selectable playable sounds in a sound group, and a digital audio source including a group of sounds and individual sounds of the electronic instrument. An audio signal generator for energizing an audio amplifier, responsive to each of the different ones of the audio signal generator; a graphical user interface for displaying at least one of control graphics indicating controllable parameters of the audio signal generated by the generator; An electronic musical instrument system having control means responsive to the operation of the control graphic for adjusting controllable parameters and for selectively coupling different ones of the sound sources to the generator. The graphical user interface can include a video display (20), a touch sensitive overlay (22). The controllable parameters may comprise multiple instrument sound selections and sound layer designations that are controlled in response to operation of at least one control graphic.
