(57) [Summary]nThe present invention provides a transgenic non-human animal expressing a transgene encoding perlecan. Also provided are non-human double transgenic animals expressing transgenes encoding perlecan and mamiloid. Also provided are methods of screening for compounds that alter the rate or extent of amyloid deposition. The method comprises the steps of: (a) producing a perlecan transgenic animal; (b) administering to the perlecan transgenic animal an effective amount of a test compound; and (c) determining the rate or extent of the amyloid deposition of the compound. Consists of checking whether to change. Finally, the invention also provides a method of screening for a compound that alters the rate or extent of amyloid deposition. The method comprises: (a) producing a perlecan / amyloid double transgenic animal; (b) administering to the perlecan / amyloid double transgenic animal an effective amount of a test compound; and (c) administering the compound to amyloid. To determine whether the rate or degree of deposition is altered. |
