(57) SUMMARY The present invention provides a load equalizing and impact energy absorbing webbing comprising a warp yarn. When the webbing is used in a seat belt, the webbing provides a load leveling behavior of about 450 pounds (about 2,000 Newtons) to about 1,800 pounds (about 8,000 Newtons) during a vehicle collision. The yarn comprises a plurality of fibers, all of whose warp yarns have substantially the same force-displacement profile and are made from a polymer having a glass transition temperature ranging from about -40C to about + 70C. And not made from polybutylene terephthalate homopolymer. |
