(57) [Summary]nDisclosed is a method for producing collagen using a host and a vector that express collagen and a collagen post-translational enzyme. Collagen post-translation enzymes include prolyl-4-hydroxylase, lysyl hydroxylase, lysyl oxidase, C-proteinase, and N-proteinase, which are enzymes that are properly folded recombinant collagen in non-mammalian hosts. Increase the yield of Collagen produced by these methods, hosts and vectors includes both homotrimeric and heterotrimeric collagen produced from a single collagen gene or multiple collagen genes, respectively. |
