One aspect of the present invention is a multi-layer structure exhibiting balanced sealant properties comprising a polymer composition exhibiting special molecular weight properties and a sealant layer and a polypropylene layer comprised thereof, including a second ethylene polymer. A preferred embodiment of the present invention relates to a medium-density polyolefin-containing film and composition characterized by exhibiting an excellent balance between a low seal initiation temperature and an improved tensile stress of the film. The films and compositions comprise at least one homogeneously branched ethylene polymer having a low density and at least one heterogeneous or homogeneously branched ethylene polymer having a high density. The invention is particularly useful for applications requiring good packaging dimensional stability and fast sealing times, such as cook-in packaging, hot-fill packaging, pouches for flowable materials, compression-fill packaging, shrink film packaging and barrier shrinkage. Useful for biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film construction as well as film packaging.
