(57) [Summary]nDisclosed are novel DNA constructs for selecting plastid transformants in higher plants. Also disclosed are editing-based selectable marker genes that require editing at the translation level for expression of the selectable marker gene. A vector containing such an edited upstream sequence operably linked to a selectable marker gene will facilitate the isolation of plastids in higher plants than nuclear transformants. |
