Plasticized sheets, laminates made from such sheets, and methods of making such laminates |
abstract |
(57) [Summary]nA decorative paper sheet for use in making a veneer is made from a matrix containing about 15 to about 60% by weight cellulose and about 40 to about 85% by weight cellulose acetate. The sheet contains a plasticizer for cellulose acetate in an amount ranging from about 40 to about 90% by weight based on the weight of cellulose acetate in the matrix. Filler materials may be present in the sheet in amounts ranging from about 1 to about 18% by weight based on the weight of the matrix. Low pressure laminates can be made from the sheets and the structural supports therefor by applying heat and pressure. This plasticized cellulose acetate melts and then re-solidifies to bond the sheet to the structural support. |
