titleOfInvention Homogeneous DNA probe titration assay
abstract (57) [Summary]nAssays for detecting the presence or amount of a target polynucleotide sequence of interest in a test sample are disclosed. The assay comprises forming a reaction mixture by combining (i) a first reagent and (ii) an aliquot of a test sample suspected of containing a target polynucleotide sequence in an assay medium. The reaction mixture is subjected to denaturing conditions and then to hybridization conditions that allow the first reagent to hybridize to any target polynucleotide present. A second reagent is then added, the reaction mixture is allowed to hybridize, and a change in turbidity of the reaction mixture is detected, which is associated with the presence of the target polynucleotide in the sample.
