abstract | (57) [Summary] Disclosed are monomer units useful for reducing the modulus of low water content polymeric silicone compositions. The low water content compositions comprising the monomer units of the present subject matter are particularly useful for forming medical articles such as low water content silicone contact lenses. In formula (I), A is an activated unsaturated group; R and D are independently alkyl having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, which carbon atom may contain an ether bond, M is hydrogen, fluorine or an alkyl group; R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are independently selected from the following groups: including an ether linkage between carbon atoms An alkyl or haloalkyl group obtained; a siloxane group; and a carbocyclic ring group having 6 to 18 carbon atoms; m is an integer of 1 to 500; n is an integer of 1 to 20; Z is 1 or 2; and x + y + z = 3, wherein at least one of R 1 or R 2 is an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms . |
