(57) [Summary]nThe present invention relates to (1) a variant of IGF-BP3, wherein the variant up-regulates IGF-BP3 expression or activity, (2) IGF-BP3 itself, or (3) IGF-BP3. Methods for treating p53-related tumors by administering an expression vector having a nucleotide sequence are provided. In the latter method, the IGF-BP3 nucleotide sequence can be operably linked to an inducible promoter or enhancer, wherein the method further comprises administration of an inducer capable of initiating or up-regulating protein expression. I do. Further, any of the methods described above may include the additional step of administering a cytotoxic agent. These methods are specific embodiments among the general methods for treating p53-associated tumors by inhibiting the binding of IGF to IGFR. |
