titleOfInvention | Production of protein C in transgenic animals |
abstract | SUMMARY A method for producing Protein C in a transgenic non-human mammal is disclosed. Protein C is converted from Lys-Arg to R 1 -R 2 -R 3 -R 4 (where R 1 -R 4 are individually Arg or Lys) between the L and H chains of protein C. Modified at the double-strand break. A DNA segment encoding the modified protein C is introduced into the germ cells of a non-human mammal, and the mammal or its female progeny produces milk containing protein C expressed from the introduced DNA segment. Protein C expressed from the introduced DNA segment, when activated, has anticoagulant activity. Non-human mammalian embryos and transgenic non-human mammals carrying DNA segments encoding heterologous protein C are also disclosed. |
