(57) [Summary] [PROBLEMS] To perform optical resolution of aminoisobutyric acid. SOLUTION: (1) Amino-protected racemic 3-amino-2 -Reacting methyl propionic acid with the enantiomer of a chiral amine to form a diastereomer salt, (2) recrystallizing the diastereomer salt from ethyl acetate to separate the diastereomer salt into crystalline fractions, Treating the stereomeric salt with an inorganic base solution to release the split acid from the diastereomeric salt. A method for resolving amino-2-methylpropionic acid is provided. |
