abstract | (57) [Problem] To provide an optical fiber having sufficiently excellent bending characteristics even when a core diameter and a refractive index difference are constant, and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: An optical fiber 1 (multi-mode optical fiber) of the present invention has at least three local maximum values and at least two local minimum values on one straight line L on a cross section perpendicular to a central axis Z along the optical waveguide direction. A core 11 which is present and has a refractive index profile symmetric with respect to the central axis Z; 1 and a cladding 2 having a refractive index lower than at least one of the local maximums. |
