(57) [Problem] To uniformly align liquid crystal molecules even on the side where an alignment film is not provided. SOLUTION: A compound represented by the following formula (I) is used as a liquid crystal alignment promoter. (I) (Hb-) m L (-Bu) n In the formula, Hb is a fluorine-substituted alkyl group having 1 to 40 carbon atoms, a fluorine-substituted aryl group having 6 to 40 carbon atoms, and a carbon atom having Bu is a hydrophobic group selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having 6 to 60 and an alkyl-substituted oligosiloxanoxy group having 1 to 60 carbon atoms; L is a group having an excluded volume effect including at least two cyclic structures; L is a (m + n) -valent linking group; and m and n are each independently an integer from 1 to 12. |
