PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide 1-phenoxy-2-propanone or a derivative thereof, 1-phenoxy-2-aminopropane, which is highly useful as an intermediate of a triazine herbicide, after the synthesis thereof. Provided is a method for producing these compounds, which can easily perform a solvent separation operation and can easily remove a catalyst or the like by washing with water. When phenol optionally having an alkyl group is reacted with a halogenated acetone in the presence of a base and a catalyst to produce 1-phenoxy-2-propanones, an aromatic hydrocarbon is used as a solvent. The method used and the method for producing 1-phenoxy-2-aminopropanes in which the 1-phenoxy-2-propanones obtained here are subsequently aminated. |
