abstract (57) [Problem] To provide a nickel electrode capable of suppressing a voltage drop of a nickel-metal hydride battery during high-temperature storage, and a nickel-metal hydride battery using the nickel electrode and having excellent high-temperature storage characteristics. SOLUTION: Cobalt monoxide, α-cobalt hydroxide, nickel hydroxide coated with a compound mainly composed of at least one cobalt compound selected from the group consisting of β-cobalt hydroxide and cobalt oxyhydroxide, cobalt monoxide, α-cobalt hydroxide, β-water A paste containing at least one conductive aid selected from the group consisting of cobalt oxide and metallic cobalt is supported on a porous substrate, dried, and then immersed in an aqueous alkaline solution to produce a nickel electrode. A nickel-metal hydride storage battery is formed using the electrode as a positive electrode.
