SOLUTION: A step of removing wood pits by treatment with an organic solvent or the like, and a step of impregnating the wood subjected to the pit removal treatment with a preparation liquid comprising a dye or pigment, an ultrafine inorganic compound and a polyacryl oligomer. And a method for producing modified wood comprising heating the wood impregnated with the preparation liquid and curing the polyacryl oligomer in the wood, and modified wood obtained by this method.
