PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing optically active pyridyl alcohol with high reaction yield and optical yield. SOLUTION: Acylpyridines are prepared by the method described in the periodic table VII. Group I metal compound and the following general formula: (Wherein, R 3 and R 4 each independently represent an alkyl group, an aryl group, or an aromatic heterocyclic group which may have a substituent. In addition, R 3 and R 4 bind to each other or R 5 and R 6 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, an acyl group, a carbamoyl group, a thioacyl group, a thiocarbamoyl group and an alkyl or arylsulfonyl group. * Represents an asymmetric carbon atom.) In the presence of a catalyst in combination with an asymmetric ligand represented by the following formula: |
