(57) [Problem] To produce α-chloro-o-xylene with high selectivity by an industrially advantageous method. SOLUTION: In a method for producing α-chloro-o-xylene by reacting o-xylene with chlorine by a radical reaction in a liquid phase, the conversion of o-xylene is controlled within the range of 20 to 70%. After the reaction, unreacted o-xylene is recovered and reused. |
